Camping in the Swabian Jura

Abgelegene Senke am Walnussbaum

Germany-72639 Kappishäusern
Spend a peaceful night on our expansive meadow at the edge of the forest, tucked under a majestic walnut tree or beneath the open starry sky. It's the perfect base to discover many fantastic local spots, including the Jusi mountain, just a 15-minute walk away. The meadow offers total tranquility, and thanks to its natural dip in the landscape, you'll enjoy almost complete privacy.

Down at the spot in the woods, there is a small stream, but for better water quality, we recommend the spring-fed fountain in the center of town (near the bus stop). In addition to the large, shade-providing walnut tree, you will find the following on-site: - Large fire pit - Separate grate and a small camping grill - Various seating options: U-stones around the fire pit, a wooden bench, and garden chairs for flexible use - Pavilion frame; tarp is on-site and just needs to be secured (new) - Privacy screen / deadwood hedge (new and under construction) for shade or for pitching a tarp - Camping table - Small parasol - 'Hopfenhöhle' (ground cooler) for natural beverage cooling (new) The following items can be borrowed for a small fee: - Tarp for extra shade - Mobile 2400W power station (new, deposit required) for small appliances like coffee makers, kettles, lighting, etc. - Firewood (for sale) Feel free to reach out with any questions at any time – as you can see from the reviews, I put a lot of effort into connecting with every guest, sharing tips, telling stories about the area, or simply enjoying a beer together :) Finally, an important note for AWD vehicles and motorcycles: You are welcome to drive directly to the fire pit/camping area and park under the walnut tree. Please let me know in advance so we can ensure the nature and meadow are protected.

Please leave everything clean and be sure to take all your rubbish with you. Food scraps should not be thrown into the meadow, and dog waste is also included in this. There's a fire pit you can use, but in extreme dry conditions, please use the provided fire bowl or small grill instead – if you're unsure, please ask again. Many thanks!

...well, what can I say, of course, you generally need snow for that :) ...but in this area and at slightly higher elevations, there's usually always a bit of snow, at least enough for sledding. The Jusi mountain or the Eninger Weide on the other side are perfect for this. They're about 10km away but at an altitude of approximately 780-800m. Feel free to get in touch again if you have any questions, as it always depends on what you'd like to do.

Fantastic spot with unique acoustics – Perfect for travelers passing through! The owner is absolutely lovely and the spot itself is truly a gorgeous piece of nature. However, you should take the local conditions into account: the pitch is located in a hollow that acts like a natural sound funnel. As a result, the area carries sound extremely easily – ambient noises feel very close, and conversely, your own voice travels quite noticeably into the surrounding area. For this reason, I recommend this spot especially for cyclists and travelers making a brief stopover (arrive late, leave early). Due to the acoustics, it is rather unsuitable for a classic "chill & grill" stay or a longer getaway. If you arrive with the right expectations, you will be able to fully enjoy the place.
It was super nice, quiet, and open! Cute fire pit and plenty of shade!
Top spot and, most importantly, a top host!
Definitely 5/5. Contact with the host was very pleasant, even if this time it was unfortunately only via text. The spot itself is very quiet and easy to reach. There is just enough signal to let people back home know where you are, making it ideal for a digital detox. Between the sounds of forest dwellers rooting around and rodents rustling in the undergrowth, a wonderful soundscape is created for switching off. Would love to come back..
A really lovely spot to feel right at home. Felix is a nice, friendly host. A 20-minute hike and you're on the Jusi, which has one of the best views in the area, especially at sunset. Top!!!
