Camping in Ticino

Originale Rustico Alpe Gribel

Switzerland-6655 Intragna
A former alpine pasture where cows grazed in summer. After a hike of about an hour from the car park (token CHF 20.- including use of a private road), you reach Gribel, a fantastic place to retreat from everything and truly find yourself again. That's what holidays are all about... with mountain views. On such alpine pastures, the Ticino mountain farmers used to harvest grass in summer for the coming winter. The Rustico (Ticino natural stone house) has been preserved exactly as I originally inherited it from my grandparents. Cooking is done on the fireplace or with a gas stove you bring yourself. Water and toilet facilities are outside the house. After confirming your booking, you will receive a PDF with all essential information for preparing and planning your arrival. For this, I will need either your email address or your mobile number; please provide it directly in the message section when booking.

This charming house retains its original, rustic style. You'll find a mix of ceramic and plastic dinnerware for your convenience. Please note that depending on the weather and air pressure, smoke from the fireplace may not always vent immediately. We're excited to announce a new KOMPOTOI composting toilet installed in spring 2025!

A superb stay in this rustic and secluded spot. Despite being located on a hiking trail, not a soul passed by for 3 days—total isolation. Returning to civilization was tough! Given the drought and water shortage, Stefan carried the water up to us himself; thanks again!
Fascinating stone houses in a beautiful location! One star deducted because it was quite dirty and untidy. As a result, we didn't feel completely comfortable. Contact with Stefan was very warm; we learned a lot about the area and could have listened to him for a long time.
This was a huge experience for me! The rustico is tucked away deep in nature. I felt transported back to my grandparents' homeland. A very emotional experience for me. I'd love to come back!
Top as always. Even more so with the new toilet. Rustic, simple, magnificent nature. A great retreat. Thanks, Stefan, for making this possible!
A big compliment to Stefano for his hospitality. It doesn't get any better. The hiking trail to get there is very nice and manageable even in the dark. The rustico is really very basic, and you have to accept that everything will go straight into the washing machine after your stay. The smoke really lingers. The outhouse could be made a bit cozier, and the dishes/cutlery could use an upgrade. Mattress protectors would also be recommended. For us, it was a great and wonderful experience.
If you love secluded, beautifully located, and quiet places, this simple accommodation is perfect. Including a magnificent starry sky and a nice host.
A wonderful place. Thank you, Stefan, for making it available.
