Schloss Weitersroda, dating back to 1478, is nestled on the southern slope of the Thuringian Forest.
Between the castle itself and the quiet castle lane, there is a 3,000 sqm meadow area used as a campsite and pitch. Well-sheltered by hedges, trees, and our 500-year-old tower, you can camp in a historic setting surrounded by beautiful nature.
You are warmly welcome to make use of the castle courtyard, complete with toilet facilities, a fire pit, outdoor showers, plenty of cozy seating, a platform, and the ancient castle linden tree. You can also explore our temple grove—the perfect spot to unwind, meditate, or daydream under the leafy canopy.
A true paradise for children as well.
The village of Weitersroda has around 300 residents and even a local butcher's shop. Aside from occasional village festivals, it is wonderfully peaceful and quiet here. All kinds of shopping options can be found in the district town of Hildburghausen, just 3 km away.

2008 habe ich Schloss Weitersroda von 1478 erworben. Nach wilden Anfangsjahren eröffnen immer mehr Angebote für Gäste. Nach unserer Ferienwohnung Therese ist jetzt auch Camping möglich.
Einmal im Jahr steigt hier das Paradiesvogelfest.
Vom Studium her bin übrigens Historiker. Am meisten freut mich der prachtvolle Baumbestand rund um das Schloss.

A children's playground is located just 150 meters away in the village. However, kids typically find the castle courtyard much more exciting!

In the village, you'll find a local butcher shop that also sells fresh eggs and, on Fridays, traditional Thuringian bratwurst.
Living at the castle alongside seven permanent residents and our holiday rental guests are Pauli the cat, Feya the dog, squirrels, swallows, all kinds of birds of paradise, and bats.

Cool castle owner, very nice and attentive! Beautiful, uniquely designed place with great attention to detail… Sanitary facilities are basic but sufficient.
A very beautiful place to find peace and quiet, with a very attractive courtyard that invites you to relax alone or with others. I was satisfied with everything and got what I was looking for, a break from everyday life. Would gladly come back.

Good pitch in front of the castle – an even better inner courtyard that invites you to linger. Very nice hosts! A great conclusion, e.g. to the Werra Valley Cycle Path. We would love to come back again!
