Here's some more information about public transport and excursions: To get to Munich, it's best to drive to 'Grafing Bahnhof' train station (10 km away). From there, you can take either the train (Meridian) or the S-Bahn (suburban train) to Munich – during the day, there's a connection every 10 to 15 minutes. The train goes to Munich Central Station (from there, you can walk to Marienplatz in about 10 minutes); the S-Bahn also stops at Marienplatz. Near Marienplatz is the famous Viktualienmarkt, where fruits and many other foods are sold daily at various stalls. Take a stroll through the market. A visit to Munich's Hofbräuhaus is also worthwhile. Directly at Marienplatz, you'll find the tourist information office; here you can get free city maps and further tips (http://www.muenchen.de/int/en.html). City tours can be taken on red double-decker buses in Munich; the tours start directly opposite Munich Central Station. Here you can hop off at various stops and rejoin later. More information at: https://www.citysightseeing-munich.com/. For an excursion to Neuschwanstein, you'll need an early start – tours begin at 8:30 AM from Munich Central Station. You would take the S-Bahn from Grafing at 7:21 AM – arriving at Central Station at 8:01 AM (please double-check departure times) – which leaves enough time to get to the bus departure point. More information: https://www.viatorcom.de/tours/Munich/Royal-Castles-of-Newschwanstein-und-Linderhof-Day-Tour-from-Munich/d487-285016. Restaurants in Glonn: a very lovely restaurant is "Wiesmühle" (www.wadw.de) – open from Thursday to Sunday (please double-check). When the weather is nice, you can also sit outside very comfortably. However, it's advisable to reserve a table there, as it's often busy. Here you'll also find a natural outdoor pool (if you prefer a lake, Kastensee is about 3 km away). Wiesmühle can also be easily combined with a short stroll through the village of Glonn. Another recommended restaurant is Haflhof (www.haflhof.de). Haflhof is about 4 kilometers from Glonn but easily accessible by car. There's also a nice hiking trail through the forest to get there. From Grafing station, you can take the train (Meridian) to Prien am Chiemsee (travel time: 45 minutes) or even to Salzburg in Austria (travel time: 1 hour 36 minutes). In Prien, you can take a boat trip on Lake Chiemsee to Herreninsel (visit Herrenchiemsee Palace) and Fraueninsel. Hikes can be undertaken, for example, on Wendelstein or Pendling near Kufstein.

We took a birthday trip to the camping barrel. A nice change of pace compared to "normal" accommodations. There is plenty of space in the garden, and overall it is very quiet and pleasant there. The barrel sauna was definitely one of the highlights for us. Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet Thomas in person, but he always responds very quickly whenever you have a question or request. We really enjoyed our stay.
