Camping at Lake Thun

Auf dem ehemaligen Schulhausplatz

Switzerland-3623 Horrenbach
A peaceful pitch located behind the old schoolhouse in Horrenbach. An ideal starting point for hikes, bike tours*, or strolls in the pre-alpine surroundings (Sigriswilergrat, Eriz, Hohgant…). It is equally perfect for simply 'being and enjoying' around the house. As a special extra, a barrel sauna invites you for a soothing session (additional fee applies). *Located directly on the 'King’s Stage' (Langnau – Thun) of the Heart Route (Herzroute). Most guests are greeted by the curious neighborhood cats shortly after arrival, and with a bit of luck, chamois, roe deer, or stags can be seen at the edge of the forest in the early morning hours, depending on the season. The view of the starry sky on a clear night is simply priceless. The base price includes the use of the toilet and shower in the house, a gas grill, garden table and chairs, and electricity. We look forward to having you feel right at home with us! Note for guests with (small) children: The property ends towards the forest with a steep slope and no fence. As an alternative to keeping a constant eye on your kids, you are welcome to hang out and play at the neighboring public area belonging to the local administration.

Surroundings & Activities
Winter access
The access route passes sections that remain snow-covered or icy in winter long after the last snowfall. We therefore recommend traveling in winter only with a 4x4 vehicle or carrying snow chains in your trunk. The access road has limited visibility in places and is too narrow for two cars to pass, so you may occasionally need to reverse to the nearest passing bay.

Salome and Peter were helpful hosts & we felt very comfortable.
- Super nice hosts - Very helpful - Pesche gave us his cable reel because mine was broken - Quiet spot; great view of the starry sky without light pollution 🌌 - We spent 2 great, cozy, and above all, fun days - Next time I'll bring my bike because the site is located on the 'Herzroute' (Heart Route). Thanks Salome and Pesche
Very lovely spot, it had everything we needed. We had enough space for a big tent and a car. The views are amazing, the location is relatively remote, but still beautiful. We enjoyed the stay very much.
Peaceful location with stunning views. Very friendly and helpful hosts, they even gave us an extension cable to charge our phones in our tent. My family loved it here.
Very beautiful, quiet, and excellently equipped pitch with very friendly hosts. Thanks to the grill, we were able to cook our dinner, and the shelter was very practical since the weather was rather uncertain. If the temperatures had been cooler, we definitely would have used the lovely sauna :) Highly recommended!
Totally quiet spot on the edge of the forest. Electricity is available, and the toilet and shower in the house next door can be used. Friendly hosts and comprehensive information. What more could you want?
Beautiful place, clean bathroom, and a very friendly host! Thank you so much for the lovely stay!
